Khorne Chaos Daemon Prince

With the release of the new plastic Daemon Prince kit, I just had to paint one up. This one is now part of MiniWarGamer Dave’s Chaos Space Marine army. The left shoulder pad was customized with a Khorne Emblem using Green Stuff, and the base was crafted with Polystyrene.

I used some of the same techniques I did on the Hulk-style Dire Troll Mauler a few months ago, combining Airbrushing with multiple Washes to really bring out the model’s inherent detail.

Tau Gue’Vesa

This Conversion Commission is now complete! A squad of 10 Tau Gue’Vesa have been created using IG Cadian and Tau Fire Warrior bits, along with Pig Iron Productions ‘Heavy Infantry’ helmets and Epic Duck Studios ‘Urban Rubble’ bases. Two of the 10 are equipped with Pulse Carbines, one of which also has a Markerlight. Painted to Level 2 with some additional Freehanding (mainly, the Visors and Bases).

This Conversion and Painting commission is a Dwarf Warrior equipped with an Urgrosh for D&D. The majority of the model is a Reaper Mini, while the spear tip on the Urgrosh comes from a Warhammer Fantasy skeleton spearman. A small amount of Green Stuff work was done to bring the two weapons together seamlessly, and the model was then painted to Level 3.

It’s finally finished and shipped out the door! The Tau XV-9 Battlesuit project just kept growing, until it finally became this full-fledged Diorama.

Baltimork Ravens?

A few weeks ago I received a very different commission request. Cara wanted to give her brother, who loves 40K and Football, a rather unique birthday present. After finding out his favourite teams were Orks and the Baltimore Ravens respectively, I threw this model together:

Custom Tau Honour Guard

I’m currently painting a Tau Ethereal for a Painting Deathmatch at MiniWarGaming. Since I’m also slowly collecting a Tau army, I decided I should make this Ethereal a useful HQ choice. A Tau Ethereal can be accompanied by an Honour Guard; a group of Veteran Fire Warriors dedicated to protecting the Ethereal.

Obviously, a run-of-the-mill Fire Warrior won’t due in this case. Sure, I could have given them a different paint scheme, or added some rank insignia to their shoulder pads… but I could also make them completely stand out. Since I’m really taking my time with this army, I decided to go with the latter option.

The cloak, hood, backpack, and weapon took several hours to sculpt, but I’m happy with the final result. The cloak may not be ceremonial enough though… so far, this looks more like a Tau Hermit than anything else. I’ll wait to pass judgement on my own work until after it’s painted, though.
